Alanson H. Kleinsorge Economics Scholarship
This scholarship is offered to support and encourage economics students who face academic challenges as they begin their college careers. The scholarship of $1,500 will be applied to the recipient’s UO tuition and fees for the following academic year.
Applicants should have freshman or sophomore standing with at least two terms at the University of Oregon. Recipient must be eligible for financial aid and have a FAFSA on file with the Office of Student and Financial Aid by application deadline.
To apply, please provide the following to the Head of the Economics Department by May 1.
1) A signed letter of application which includes your UO student ID number and contact information for a current UO instructor (preferably from Economics) with whom you have taken a class and who can serve as a reference to attest to your academic abilities and potential. In addition, include a statement verifying that you are an Oregon resident.
2) 1-2 page personal statement that describes academic background, challenges faced in high school and college courses, and future plans in economics.
3) A high school transcript.
Please note that students must attend the University of Oregon as a declared economics major in the year of the scholarship in order to receive the award.
Grace Miller Economics Scholarship
This scholarship is offered to encourage and support an academically strong UO undergraduate economics major who is an Oregon resident and who has demonstrated an interest in teaching. The scholarship is $2500 and may be used for all standard educational expenses including tuition, fees, books, miscellaneous supplies, and room and board. Up to four awards may be given.
Special consideration will be given to female applicants and the donor has a strong interest in providing financial assistance to students from diverse backgrounds. If no eligible student interested in teaching applies, then any undergraduate economics major is eligible. To apply, please provide the following to the Head of the Economics Department by May 1.
