Economics club updates

Interesting speakers, advising help, a Seattle trip, and upcoming journal publication round out the activities for 2014-2015.

The UO’s Economics Club continues to get better and better! This winter, the Econ Club has welcomed a number of excellent speakers, including Professors Caroline Weber, Trudy Cameron, and Department Head Van Kolpin. In addition to great speakers and activities during the weekly meetings (and don’t forget plenty of pizza!), club members have expanded the services they’re providing to fellow students, including:

  • Peer Advising. Beginning in spring term 2014, Econ Club members have held office hours to assist students with course planning, reviewing progress toward completing their degrees, and other questions.
  • Annual Trip. This year, the Econ Club will be hosting a student trip to Seattle to tour the Federal Reserve. In addition, the students will visit the Boeing Everett facility and other companies. [see related article]
  • Economics Journal. This year, for the first time, the Econ Club will be publishing a journal featuring student research, news, and announcements. The first issue is expected to appear during the latter part of spring term 2015. To learn more about submitting your work, contact journal editor Emilio Chacon at

The Econ Club meets weekly every Monday during the term. To learn more about club activities, visit the Facebook page:
