The Department of Economics is very active in the regional community, highlighted by a number of special initiatives and programs:
- The Oregon Economic Forum, led by Tim Duy, which sponsors an annual conference in Portland and publishes the UO Statewide Economic Indicator, Regional Economic Indicators, and the Central Oregon Business Index.
- An undergraduate honors program where student teams serve as consultants to local non-profit and government agencies.
- The SAIL program, which encourages local low-income high school students to succeed in college.
Our faculty and graduate students are also involved in a number of interesting research projects and are frequently cited in national and international publications. See our Department News section for the latest updates.
